To guide continuing implementation of a campus community action plan for sustainability; and to develop a comprehensive plan for NMH to undertake projects and practices in energy use, dining, building, investing, and teaching that will make the school both a leader in sustainability and a resilient institution.

KEY STATS:

​30% of the academic courses on campus are sustainability related, yet the community feels largely left out of the institutional conversation about sustainability.

4% of our food is purchased locally.

93% of students know how to recycle effectively, yet only 56% carefully recycle on a daily basis.

74% of NMH parents surveyed indicated that sustainability was 'very important' or 'important' in their decision to send their child to NMH.

KEY RECOMMENDATIONS:


Create a culture of sustainability that is embraced as a central tenet to guide behavior


Pursue intentional design of campus facilities and operational practices that minimize lifecycle costs and maximize regenerative design

Institutionalize sustainability through effective planning, administration and engagement
